About the Cohort Experience

This cohort-based version of the course is designed to take your learning beyond theory, combining expert-led teaching with structure, accountability, and personalised support.

Over the duration of the programme, you will complete one lesson per week, allowing you the time and space to fully engage with each concept and meaningfully apply what you learn. This paced approach is designed to deepen your understanding and support long-term retention, rather than rushing through the material.

After each module, you will be invited to join a live group session with Shakaila via Google Meet. These sessions provide the opportunity to revisit key ideas, ask questions, and explore how fashion psychology applies in real-world contexts. Learning alongside others also creates a collaborative and inspiring environment, where shared perspectives enrich your experience.

Reflection questions are marked every 24-72 hours.

As part of the cohort, you will also receive three 1:1 sessions with Shakaila following the completion of the course. These sessions are scheduled independently and tailored to you, offering dedicated time to discuss your goals, receive personalised feedback, and gain guidance on applying fashion psychology to your career or personal journey.

This is more than a course. It is a guided learning experience designed to support your growth, build your confidence, and help you translate knowledge into meaningful action.

I would recommend this course wholeheartedly

Having worked as a stylist for over a decade, I have always believed that style is about so much more than clothing. It’s about identity, confidence, self-expression and, in many ways, understanding ourselves. Having also spent the past few years studying psychology, I was incredibly excited to find a course that brought these two disciplines together so thoughtfully. What this course gave me was not simply more knowledge, but a different perspective. It deepened my understanding of the emotional relationship we have with our wardrobes and helped me put language and structure around things I had often sensed intuitively throughout my career. It reminded me that the most meaningful transformations rarely begin with the clothes themselves - they begin with the person wearing them. One of the things I appreciated most was how beautifully balanced the lessons were. The content was academically grounded yet always practical, making it easy to translate into real client work. Rather than feeling like theory for theory’s sake, every module left me reflecting on my own practice and inspired me to become a more thoughtful stylist. The live sessions were another highlight. They created a genuine sense of community and offered the opportunity to explore the material in greater depth, ask questions and learn from the experiences of both the tutors and fellow stylists. Those conversations often became just as valuable as the lessons themselves.Perhaps the greatest thing I have taken away is confidence - not only in understanding the psychology behind clothing choices, but in trusting my instincts and having a stronger framework for supporting clients through change. I now feel better equipped to navigate the emotional side of styling with greater sensitivity, curiosity and intention.I genuinely believe the course offers exceptional value for money. The quality of the teaching, the depth of the content and the practical application make it an investment that continues to give long after the course has finished. It has already influenced the way I think about my work and the experience I want to create for my clients.I would recommend this course wholeheartedly to any stylist who wants to go beyond creating beautiful outfits and begin creating meaningful transformations. Whether you’re new to the industry or have years of experience, it encourages you to look beneath the surface and understand not just what people wear, but why. For me, that shift in perspective has been invaluable.

How is the cohort structured?

  • The cohort follows a structured, guided format. You can complete it in your own time, but it's recommended that you complete at least one lesson per week, giving you time to fully absorb and apply each concept. After each module, you will attend a live group session with Shakaila via Google Meet to deepen your understanding and discuss key ideas. These lessons are always based on the prior module, so it's strongly suggested that you catch up before these take place

What makes the cohort different from the independent course?

  • The cohort offers structure, accountability, and direct access to Shakaila. Instead of learning independently, you will move through the course alongside others, attend live sessions, and receive personalised support for a more immersive, supported experience.

Will I be able to interact with other students?

  • Yes. The cohort is designed to be a shared learning experience, allowing you to engage with other students during live sessions, exchange perspectives, and learn collaboratively.

Will I have direct access to Shakaila?

  • Yes. You will have regular access to Shakaila through:

    • Weekly live group sessions

    • Three 1:1 sessions after course completion

These sessions are designed to support your development and provide tailored guidance.

How do the 1:1 sessions work?

  • You will receive three 1:1 sessions with Shakaila after completing the course. These are scheduled independently at a time that works for both of you and are tailored to your goals, whether that’s career advice, personal development, or applying fashion psychology in practice

How do the quizzes and reflection questions work?

  • Throughout the course, you'll complete quizzes and reflection questions designed to help you consolidate your learning and apply fashion psychology concepts to real-world situations.

Quizzes are designed to test your understanding of the key concepts covered in each lesson, helping you check your knowledge as you progress. They are marked as pass/fail, and you are able to retake them multiple times. You will not be able to progress until you pass.

Reflection questions encourage you to think more critically about what you've learned and explore how you might apply these insights in your personal or professional life. Unlike the quizzes, your reflection questions are personally reviewed and graded by Shakaila Forbes-Bell, our course leader and Fashion Psychologist.

You'll receive feedback within 24–72 hours (not including weekends), and your responses must meet the required standard before you can progress to the next stage of the course. You may not always receive a notification that these have been graded, so please check regularly.

The aim is to ensure you're not simply memorising information but developing a deeper understanding of fashion psychology and the confidence to apply it in practice. There is no need to have a background in psychology to succeed!

How long does the cohort last?

  • The cohort runs over 12 weeks, with one lesson completed each week, followed by a live group session

Do I need to attend every live session?

  • We strongly recommend attending all sessions to get the full benefit of the cohort experience. If you’re unable to attend, replays may be available, but live participation allows for real-time interaction and feedback.
