Makeovers Are Back. But This Time, They're Backed By Science
There was:
And every talk show from Ricki Lake to Maury had a makeover moment.
Makeover shows were everywhere in the 90s and early 2000s.
And while they delivered big transformations, let’s be honest… They could be brutal.
Contestants were often belittled, mocked for their choices, and shoved into styles they clearly didn’t vibe with — all for shock value and ratings. Fashion psychology wasn’t a thing back then. Wellbeing came second to viewership.
Then shows like Queer Eye and Gok’s Fashion Fix came along, proving what many of us already felt: style isn’t just surface level. What we wear can impact how we feel.
But over time, makeover shows faded from the spotlight.
So we’re bringing them back — and doing it the right way.

The Wearapy Show is a transformative makeover series blending fashion psychology, personal growth, and style therapy for everyday people.
Each episode dives deep into real people’s relationships with their clothes — exploring how life events like motherhood, grief, weight changes or identity shifts affect how we show up in the world.
From there, I (fashion psychologist Shakaila Forbes-Bell) step in with a team of experts to provide personalised, science-backed style support. No humiliation. No forced trends. Just genuine transformation that starts on the inside and radiates outward.
So... What is Wearapy?
Wearapy is the practice of using clothes as a tool to:
navigate different emotional states,
confront difficult feelings,
honour or boost your mood.
It’s the psychological embodiment of wearing your heart on your sleeve.
The Wearapy Show is more than a series. It’s a childhood dream come true. Since I was 18, I’ve always aspired to become some wild combo of Gok Wan and Frasier Crane. And with this show, that dream finally came to life.

Watch the transformation. Feel the impact.
The first episodes are emotional, uplifting and incredibly relatable — featuring Emmy, who navigates grief and body image after weight loss, and Emma, a new mum trying to reconnect with her bold, artistic style. We also sit down with fashion experts like Jennifer Michalski-Bray and Bra Whisperer™ Katie Weir to offer practical, uplifting advice that will inspire anyone watching.
