EP8 Always ask why, when it comes to your hair!

The Big Dress Energy Podcast ultimately explores how you can harness the principles of fashion psychology to upgrade your look – and dress in a way that feels completely authentic.

This is not your typical fashion podcast, we use science and insights to help you think more mindfully about your wardrobe. For this episode, your host, Fashion Psychologist and Best Selling Author, Shakaila Forbes-Bell is joined by two amazing women in the hair space! This chat will encourage you to think more deeply about your beauty and aesthetic choices and how this impacts you beyond the surface level. This leaves you with a stronger relationship with how you show up and present yourself to the world.

Join the conversation with: Dr. Afiya Mbilishaka (@dr_afiya), a therapist, consultant, research-scientist, speaker, hair historian, and hairstylist. She is the owner of Ma’at Psychological Services and innovated the practice and research of, “PsychoHairapy,” where she uses hair as an entry point for mental health services in beauty salons and barbershops, as well as through social media.

Jay-Ann Lopez (@jayannlopez_), CEO and Founder of Black Girl Gamers™; an online safe space and platform that heightens the visibility of Black Women in Gaming and advocates for Diversity & Inclusion. Listen in for how hair can be used as an entry point into mental health-care, societal pressures and discrimination towards black hair and the importance of wearing your hair how you really want.
